Tech Tips for the Week of September 21 - MS Word

In conversations I've had within the last week, I'm reminded that sometimes folks may be unfamiliar with some of the more fundamental abilities of Microsoft Word, features which can simplify common, everyday tasks in education. To address this gap, I've put together three video tutorials to introduce (or reinforce) people's knowledge of some of MS Word's underutilized features:

Note that the Format Painter is relatively consistent across MS Office applications, so learning how it works is worthwhile, since you can transfer/apply that knowledge in Publisher, Excel, and PowerPoint.

If you misplace this email or any of the other tech tips, most of the tutorials referred to here can be found on Student Moodle. To access them:
  • Click on this link.
  • Don't log in to Student Moodle
  • Scroll to the very bottom of the screen
  • Click on Elearning
  • Click on Elearning Tutorials. Here you will see that the tutorials are organized in "courses" according to application.
  • Click on the application you would like to learn about.
  • When prompted for a username and login, just click on the Login as a guest button. All courses have guest access enabled.
Do you have software/technology questions that you would like to see addressed in these weekly tech tips? If so, please let me know, and I will do my best to deal with them in a timely fashion.

If you're looking for face-to-face help with a technology issue (other than hardware problems) please feel free to contact your Elearning Catalyst Teacher (Rob, Shelby, Lisa, or Cal)

And, finally, just a reminder of other upcoming training opportunities offered by Elearning:

October 19 - Inspiration / Blogging Workshop
October 30 - Advanced Moodle

March 11 - Introduction to Moodle

If you are interested in any of these workshops, please email Cal.

Until next week ...
